The London Pass and Oyster Card

The London Pass is a Visitor's Pass. This allows the holder to visit the tourist attractions without having to pay cash out of pocket and allows the visitor to surpass the Que.

The list  below is all the attractions the card covers:

You can get the pass for up to 6 days. The prices, in euros and for adults are:

1 day: 80 Euro
2 days: 160 Euro
3 days: 240 Euro
6 days: 480 Euro.

These passes ARE NOT renewable.  You have to keep track of what day you first use the London Pass. From that day, no matter how many times you use it, you can only use the pass for the amount of days, or Euro, that you have put on the card.

Example: If you get a 3 day pass: Use it on a Monday - it WILL expire Wednesday of that week.

You can also get the London Pass with Travel. But you can only use it for travel on the days valid with the pass.

I recommend getting this card as well as the Oyster Card I mentioned in my last post. Also, it seems that you can order another London Pass online anywhere you are. If you use up your first pass you can always order a new one, but it may be a bit more expensive.

OYSTER CARD

I noticed one of my good friends, who happens to be going to study abroad in London with me, was getting an Oyster Card.

The Oyster Card gets you around London for a cheaper price on buses (only 1 pound 75) and on the underground (2 pound vs. 4 for a ticket). You can travel in any zone with your Oyster Card and the best part is, you can put money back onto it when you're running out.

It's also best to register your Oyster Card, in case it gets lost or stolen. If so you can have them block it and get a new one. It is a 5 pound deposit and comes with 10 pounds on it, but you can add more when you initially get it. It is cheaper to order ahead of time but it's also okay to get one when you get to London from the underground stations.

Once at a station it's better to go to the window instead of getting it at the machine.

To Do List - Progress

I have begun to make  a dent in my to do list. I am happy to say, that after a worth it vacation and Harry Potter Leaky Convention, in Orlando, Flordia, I have begun to chip away at the small details of my To Do List.
I have successfully  begun to organize my room and make sure that everything is in its place. This makes me very happy, because I can now go through my closet and dressers and pick out the clothes I wear most often, as well as a few  sweat shirts and some other items.  This will make my packing a lot easier and more concise, so I am extremely pleased.

I have also begun to look into purchasing my Oyster travel card. This will allow me to use the  transportation system in London at a cheaper rate, because the Oyster card can have up to $65 dollars or 50  Euro on it for travel, and it is also a renewable card. If I run out of money I can just add more onto it later. And, with the prepaying and pre-ordering of the card I save money.

I am also looking into pre-ordering a card that allows me to enter and exit the main tourist attractions, meaning I wont' have to Que Up. But, that is going to be another small detail to add on to my list, as it is a different card than the Oyster.

Well , that's my most current update on my preparations for London.

First Steps

To view my thoughts on other topics in life please visit: The Mirror's Edge found here: The Mirror's Edge

Welcome to my blog set aside for my trip to Euorpe. You are probably wondering what an Anglofile is. An Anglophile is a person who loves everything about the British, from the country, to the main land, to the royal family, even down to the Tower of London and fashion.

As a person who has fallen in love with England (and Britain, too), I am extremely excited to be visiting London. I have to say that I have never been excited for anything so much in my life. I am literally psyched out of my mind. As a world traveler, I have gotten down the basics: what to pack, what not to wear, to use the manners I was raised with, and to treat everyone I meet with respect.

What I did not expect to be so difficult was the little details leading up to the departure. I have such a long to do list. I have to:

1. Clean my room and set aside what to pack
2. Renew my debit card & get my bank accounts in order
3. Renew my Driver's License
4. Purchase an Oyster Card
5. Check the validity of my passport
6. Order text books to come in the mail

But, although I have to do all of these things, I am really excited. I get to go to the country I've always loved and explore and learn alongside friends. It is the highlight of my four years at college. My biggest worry: Recovering from the loans I'll have after college and from this trip.
